American Red Cross Hometown Hero
Community Award Recipient

A committee of community leaders met this morning and although there were a lot of deserving nominees, they felt that you best exemplify an American Red Cross Hometown Hero for your wonderful work with seniors who need dental care.

Your program will be honored at our Hometown Heroes Dinner on Friday, April 2nd, 2010, 6:15 pm
at the Antlers' Hilton in downtown Colorado Springs.

A video vignette of your heroic act will be created to honor you at the event.

Your Space: Everybody's got a story

Senior Mobile Dental is a newly formed name, awards were given under the Licensed Dental Hygiene Care name. Here are some examples of what your donation can accomplish.

• Sam’s Club’s generous donation of $1,000 provided services to nursing home residents, who had no financial means for preventive dental hygiene care. 

• In 2008, Senior Mobile Dental (Licensed Dental Hygiene Care) received a national award from Johnson & Johnson and the American Dental Hygiene Association for the implementation of this non-profit program. Johnson & Johnson donated $1,000 in Michelle’s name to Senior Mobile Denta(LDHC)l. These funds were used towards a portion of the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment needed to provide care to the residents in the comfort at their own facility.

• The $867 in funding from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and its parishioners was also used to bring services to residents and improve program operations.

• This year’s greatest achievement thus far is the DUAL award that Michelle was honored to receive. Colgate and the American Dental Hygiene Association awarded Senior Mobile Dental their Community Outreach Award for bringing our services to this neglected, vulnerable population. The second award received from Crest and ADHA with the Clinical Dental Hygienist Award, for the professional care she brings to these seniors who have no or limited access to professional preventive services. $1,000 was used to bring services to seniors with no financial resources.
   
  
• Senior Mobile Dental also received grant funding from the Colorado Compassion Initiative. This is a capacity building grant, and we are receiving valuable information and training in building our non-profit organization to its fullest potential.
  
  
• Morgan Ewert from Metrex Cavicide and Pinnacle Barriers facilitated a much needed donation of Metrex Cavicide and Pinnacle barriers for our disinfecting needs.
  
  
• Program services would not have been possible without the generous support of donated dental products from the following supporters:

  -Waterpik dental supplies-fluoride varnish
